Slate-Topped Table

This round piece of Pennsylvania slate is supported on a triangular walnut base and has a diameter of 36 inches. You could also use marble, plate glass or veneered plywood. This would require a strip of veneer around the edge to cover the plies. I don’t recommend a solid-wood top because it is unlikely to stay flat.
